Link Building: Follow the Leader Building Links
One technique that we have found works like a champ is to ride on the coat tail of a good link builder. When you get those annoying ‘link exchanges’ emails you can get a feel for a spam attack or a quality link building effort. One example of this is if the site they are wanting to exchange with is within your sites subject. If this is the case then follow along on there coat tails (of the Leader) like this:
- Go ahead and exchange links with them.
- Go to their site and see their links partners.
- Next you will do what I call 3 X 3, pick 3 sites.
- Email those 3 – Important: with the Leaders name in the subject.
- Do this for 3 straight days,- Only emailing them once but at different times of the day.
- By day 3 you will have probably head from at least 2 of them and converted them with links.
- On day 4 go back to site and pick out 3 more.
- Lather, Rinse, and Repeat.
The great thing is that the links that actually show up on the leaders site are highly qualified leads and have recently participated in a link exchange. We have found a 63% conversion rate with this strategy. The important thing is to have the Leaders website address in the subject along with your own. People know what they like and like what they know and they know, like, and trust the leader (I use the word trust here very lightly) and they have already had success with the leader why not with you? What do you think do you have any link building strategies that are just killing it right now?
